SHOOTERS NEED TO ACT

The Australian Federal Government are moving on firearms policy, and the Shooters Union Australia expect that they will try to pressure the Qld LNP and other state governments to join them.

It's critical that responsible firearm owners/Family and Friends make their voices heard now - directly with their local State MP's. Get everyone you know to submit a form.

Your task is simple but powerful:

  • Contact (call, message, visit, email) your State MP
  • Contact (call, message, visit, email) the Premier
  • Clearly and respectfully outline your position
  • Tell them you oppose federal Labor's proposed approach to firearms laws, and you appreciate the Crisafulli-government's opposition to them.

Not sure what to write, take a look at our letter generator, (By the Shooters Union) and customise the message to suit your needs. Seems to work if a member or not and will send an email directly to your State MP. Looks like it will work for some other states not just Qld. But maybe not all.  (Copy of the letter below so can Copy and email if need too if not work for you)

You can edit the letter template below to suit your circumstances. Be respectful and polite in your communication. You are solely responsible for the content you send to your MP

Direct contact from constituents matters. MP's pay attention when REAL voters take the time to write, email or call. This is one of the most effective ways to ensure responsible shooters are NOT ignored in the policy process.

Whether you choose to express strong opposition, or measured concern - SILENCE helps NO ONE.

Dear Hon (MP's Name)

I am writing to you as your constituent and a concerned member of your community.

In the wake of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack, I’m concerned that our state may follow suit with knee-jerk gun law changes that miss the real problem.

This was a terrorism problem, not a gun law problem.

The perpetrators were investigated by ASIO in 2019 but were cleared. The NSW Police were not notified that they held firearms licenses. This was an intelligence coordination failure, not a firearms licensing issue.

We already have strict firearms laws that work:

*Licensed owners undergo extensive background checks
*Licensed owners comply with strict storage and usage requirements
*Licensed owners are not the threat

Rushed restrictions won’t stop terrorism. Extremists don’t follow laws.

What we need:

*Better intelligence coordination between ASIO and the state police
*Notification requirements when persons of interest hold firearms licenses
*Targeted counter-terrorism measures

I urge you to resist any pressure for rushed gun law changes. Focus on closing intelligence gaps and stopping actual threats.

Your constituents are watching.

Sincerely,
(Your Name)
